Living

Dormitory

Before I came to Japan, I through the school agent to arrange me to live in the dormitory.  the apartment was divided into 2 to 3 rooms, one room for living 1peron to 3 people.  Of course the room for more people living is cheaper.

I was living in a apartment which divided into 2 rooms for 2 girls in each room.  Totally we had 4 girls living in one apartment.  ( the rent was 52,000 yen per month plus one time payment 50,000 yen "non-returnable")

The merit of living with 3 girls from Hong Kong was that we can always share what we happened in the whole day and moreover drink together.  But the demerit was that I did not have any chance to practice my Japanese because we only spoke  Cantonese with each others.  I was staying in the dormitory only for 3 months.

Home stay

For improving my Japanese, I moved to my  my Japanese's friend  private house.  Because it was my friend's house,  the rental fee was very cheap. (rental fee was 35,000 yen per month)

I was living in there continuously for 2 years until I graduated from professional school.

My private house

After I found a job, then I decided to rent my own house.  I rented a very nice apartment which located in Chofu.  It is a super convenient place.  14 minutes by the express train to Shinjuku and 3 minutes on foot from station to my house.

I had a nice time living alone, but the money need to spend at the beginning was really big. for example my house, Rental fee was 75,500 yen per month.  Then I need to pay 1 month key money, 2 months deposit and one month commission to the housing agent.  Moreover, they only rent a house to me without furniture, so I have to buy everything, e.g. electric appliances and furniture at one time.  I remember I almost spent 500,000 yen at the beginning of renting  this house.
