Part Time Life
I believe the toughest time in Japan was working.
It was necessary for me to have a part time job while studying because the cost of living in Japan is very high. I took HK$150,000 from my saving for my living in Japan. I knew that if I don't have a part time job in Japan, my money will be all spend within 6 to 10 months. Then I have to stop my studying in Japan and return to Hong Kong.
First year's part time
My first part time job was working in a Accessory shop as a shopkeeper. This shop was very small with only 3 staff members and the boss. My work was to sell the accessories, display merchandises and serve customer. This job was introduced to me by a friend 2 weeks after I arrived in Japan. The pay was 750 yen per hour.
I believe I was lucky because I knew some of the students cannot get a job in the first 6 months after they come to Japan. I studied in the Japanese school from 9am to 12:30pm, and I worked in accessory shop from 2pm to 6pm per day.
Accessory Shop "Merry Go Around"
As I was used to work in the office and at the beginning to stand in a shop for long hours was very tough for me. Another thing I felt tough was to make friend in the work, because my Japanese was not good enough, I was not able to communicate with them fluently and I cannot had a good relationship . Even though I had a difficult time in this job, I was working there for a whole year until I graduated from Japanese school.
Hikarigaoka StationSecond year's part time
In the second year, I continued my study in the business professional school. The school time of this school was from 9am to 4;30pm, so I resigned from the accessory shop and start to work in a Restaurant. (this job was introduced by a Korean classmate in the Japanese school). The pay was 900 yen per hour.
The Restaurant I was working as a waitress in that restaurant. The working atmosphere in that restaurant was good as most of the staff members were young and nice but the workload was very big especially in the busy days of the restaurant.
The shop was in Okachimachi StationEveryday I finished school at 4;30pm, then I worked in the restaurant from 6pm to 11pm. It made me so exhausted all the time.
